Windows Doesn’t Boot – The Definitive Solution List
90% of the Windows machines I have seen that wont boot was the direct result of some missing file or damaged portion of the Master Boot Record. Fortunately there are multiple boot disks and methods available to get you back in business. I would like to examine the multiple ways available out there to fix problems like this and compile, with the help of the readers, a definitive list of solutions for these problems. If you have anything to contribute, or know of any quick fixes please feel free to add to this discussion.
Error:
Unmountable Boot Volume – 0x000000ED
Possible Cause:
Damaged MBR
Solution:
Boot OEM Windows Installation Disk, at the first screen type “R” for the recovery console. Once in type “FIXMBR”. Once finished run “CHKDSK” to double check for errors. Type “EXIT” and reboot your machine.
Again this is only the beginning of a master list, please
contribute to help this list grow!
