Cheap Alternative to Thermal Paste
Submitted by fivemagics99 on Thu, 01/31/2008 - 02:27.Problem:
When assembling an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with an Abit Fatality FP-IN9 SLI motherboard, I noticed the Fan/Heatsink unit didn't mount flush with the processor, leading to processor overheating. Most motherboards will generally restart when processor reaches a certain temperature, and mine was no exception.
Cause:
- Fan/Heatsink unit's fragile mounting pins not fully inserted into motherboard
- Unlevel Fan/Heatsink bottom surface.

properly shutdown Windows Server 2003 when the battery power reaches a specified level.
